Welcome to www.DavidFinckLuthier.com

I have just published this new site — www.davidfinckluthier.com — to serve as a concise portfolio of the violin and viola models I make, to provide audition and purchase details, a personal introduction (if you don’t know me already),  and as an ongoing and updated source of useful information.  Look around and let me know what you think. I value your feedback and suggestions.

15-5/8″ Viola

Completed in July, this smaller viola inspired by a 1560 Andrea Amati has plenty of presence and  a C-string as profound as you are likely to find in a viola of this size.

Viola Day at WVU  Saturday, October 1, 2016

I’ll be showing two new violas (the above pictured as well as a noteworthy 16-3/8″ model) and a number of recent violins, at Viola Day, held at West Virginia University in Morgantown this coming Saturday. The event is hosted by professor Andrea Houde at WVU’s Creative Arts Center. Featured guest violists are Tim Deighton and Katrin Meidell. Activities will include master classes, technique class, lectures, “viola yoga,” vendors, viola ensemble reading session, and performances. WVU Viola Day is open to students of all ages.  Contact professor Houde at andrea.houde@mail.wvu.edu or call:  304.293.5777   Registration deadline was September 24th, check to see if there is an extension.
