Guarneri Model

The 1735 “del Gesu” Guarneri known as “The Plowden” is considered to be one of the great violins of history. Guarneri’s violins are thought by many connoisseurs to outstrip even the instruments of Stradivari in tonally expressive possibilities, with a dark and masculine character often noted. “The Plowden” provided the tonal ideal, the basic outline, arching, important dimensions, and the inspiration – and yet, the interpretation is my own.

These images are selected from a variety of violins that I have made of this model. I encourage you to call or email with questions, availability inquiries, and to arrange an audition and studio visit. Click any image to enlarge. The last image is a video.
